Mrs. Janet L. Anderson, 91, of Morris, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, Feb. 14, 2012 at Morris Hospital with her loving family by her side.

Born Aug. 1, 1920, in Wauponsee Township, Grundy County, Janet was the daughter of Arthur and Sadie (Berkland) Gunderson. She received her education in the rural schools of Wauponsee Township and graduated from Morris High School with the class of 1938. She attended and graduated from  the Nuway Beauty School in Joliet, Ill.

Janet married the love of her life, Glen C. Anderson, on Nov. 25, 1945 in Morris. She owned and operated Janet’s Beauty Shop at her home on East Washington Street for 27 years until retiring in 1985. For many years, she served as the hairdresser for the locally owned funeral homes in the community.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Morris. She was a former member of the Grundy County Republican Women’s Club and Goose Lake Home Extension.

Janet was a very generous lady and well known for her donations of her homemade quilts to the many various civic and non-profit organizations in the county.

Survivors include two loving daughters, Nancy (James) McCormack of Mazon and Betty (David) Findlay of Morris; one granddaughter, Kimberly (Russ) Wendling of Kaneville; one grandson, Brian (Annette) Findlay of Bradley, Ill.; five great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Anna Wendlling, Kyle, Ashlyn and Kierra Findlay; one brother, Wayne Gunderson of Morris; along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by her parents; husband on Dec. 18, 1990; one sister, Beverly Kaldheim; and one grandson, Brent Douglas Findlay.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at U.C. Davis & Sons Funeral Home Ltd., 301 W. Washington St., Morris.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012 at the funeral home. Rev. Steve Larson of the First Baptist Church will officiate.

Interment will follow at Saratoga Cemetery.

Preferred form of Remembrance would be memorial gifts in Janet’s memory to the First Baptist Church, Morris Firefighter’s Association or Verona Methodist Church.
