Jon Rau

Mr. Jon Rau, 63, passed away suddenly Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, Ill.

Jon retired from Joliet Junior College in 2004 after teaching for more than 30 years in the automotive technology department.

In his retirement, Jon enjoyed traveling around the U.S. with his wife, Fern. They stopped to visit their children and helped them with their own endeavors.

He was a member of the Model A Club of Joliet. Jon enjoyed building street rods. He was also a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Danish Brotherhood of Chicagoland Lodge #35.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Fern E. (Watson) Rau; children, Evan Rau of Ft. Collins, Colo., and Sara Rau of Chesapeake, Va.; brother, Jay (Rhonda) Rau of Portland, Ore.; and sister, Lyn Pence of Hampton, Va.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Grant A. and Frieda K. Rau.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012, at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home, 2320 Black Road, Joliet.

Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22.

Memorials to the American Heart Association or the Diabetes Association will be appreciated.
