OTTAWA — The Young Performers Competition is held annually by the Illinois Valley Symphony.

Winners were selected by audition in January and will solo with the orchestra at the upcoming orchestra concert Sunday, March 11 at 3 p.m. at the Ottawa High School auditorium.  Admission is by season membership or individual ticket. Tickets are $12 for adults and $5 for students (K-college with ID).  Tickets may be purchased at the door on the IVSO website, www.ivso.org.

Junior Division winner is Danielle Jameson, a flute player from Earlville. She is an eighth-grader and is homeschooled.

Senior Division winners are the flute duo of Mora Novey and Jocelyn Schueler. Novey is a junior at Somonauk High School, and Schuler is a junior at Ottawa High School
Junior Division first runner-up is Bethany Wohrley, a ninth-grader from Mendota. Honorable mention selections areseventh-grade flute player Rachel Haas of La Salle and ninth-grade piano player Abigail Walker of Ottawa.

Senior Division first runner-up is 11th-grade flute player Hannah Bressner of Streator. Honorable mention selections are 11th-grade flue player Marisa Mitchell of Peru, 12th-grade flute player Emily Passini, of Dalzell and 12th-grade trumpet player Jeremy Stevens of Peru.

Wohrley, Bressner, Haas, Walker and Mitchell are acknowledged but unable to perform due to college visit obligations. Passini, flute and Stevens performed at the IVSO Honors Recital at the Hegeler Carus Mansion on Friday, Feb. 17.
