Fish Fries begin this evening
MINOOKA — Minooka United Methodist Church is continuing its tradition of serving delectable fish dinners each Friday during the Lenten Season.
Beginning tonight, Friday, Feb. 24, and continuing through Good Friday, the church will be serving a variety of meals and combinations with several sides to choose from. Meals are complete with beverage and dessert!
They are open to the public, no reservations are needed and carry outs are available Serving hours are 4 to 7 p.m.

Catholics offered a Gateway Back
Catholics Returning Home helps Catholics re-connect with their faith, and their relationship with Christ. There is no obligation or cost.
Catholics Returning Home is a:

A six-week series will begin Monday, Feb. 27, and run from 7:30 to 9 p.m. each week in the North Wing Room A at St. Mary Immaculate Parish.
The group surveys the questions and issues they want to explore. Sessions 2 through 5 topics are adjusted to ensure that everyone’s needs are addressed. A typical flow would include:

Midweek Lenten services begin
Peace Lutheran Church, 101 Candlelight Lane, Morris, will have midweek Lenten worship services each Wednesday evening beginning Feb. 29, and continuing March 7, 14, 21, and 28.
A soup/sandwich supper will be served at 6 p.m. followed by a worship service at 6:45 p.m.
Weekly noontime services planned
The Morris Ministerial Association is sponsoring worship services at noon for the Morris community each Wednesday, beginning Feb. 29.
The first service will be at First Methodist, followed March 7 at First Presbyterian; March 14 at Peace Lutheran; March 21 at Immaculate Conception; and March 28 at West Lisbon.
Friends in Christ set Lenten series
Friends in Christ Lutheran Church, 180 E. Waverly St., Morris, will have Lenten Services on Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. that will continue up to Holy Week, April 1-7, and Easter Sunday, April 8.
The theme of this year’s Lenten series is the question, “O Lord Jesus, why did you have to die?” Each week we will explore a different answer, taken from the great prophecy chapter on Jesus’ death, Isaiah 53. Next Wednesday’s theme, Feb. 29, explores the answer, “To bear our sorrows.”
Fellowship meals precede the services at 6 p.m. The community is invited to join them for this special series presented by Rev. Phil Gruenbaum, pastor.
First Baptist Church offering Kidz Zone every first Friday
The first Friday night of each month the First Baptist Church will host Kidz Zone.
Parents may drop off their children at the church for crafts, activities, games, music and snacks, while they enjoy shopping, a date night or simply relax.
From 6 to 8:30 p.m., the children willl enjoy themselves in a positive, loving, safe and fun environment. Kidz Zone is offered for all children under the age of 12.
March’s Kidz Zone takes place on Friday, March 2.

Stonestreet to speak at Bible Conference
A mid-winter Bible Conference will be held at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 202 W. Jefferson St., Morris, on Saturday, March 3, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
John Stonestreet, host of The Point, a radio minute and blog aimed directly at the center of these intersections, will be the guest speaker. He is in association with BreakPoint.org and the Chuck Colson Center for Christian Worldview. The Point’s primary mission is to “engage real life in real time for a Christian worldview.”
John challenges Christ-ians from all walks of life to reject the boundaries between secular and sacred and to realize that the world and everything in it is under God’s jurisdiction.
There will be two morning sessions: “Thinking Worldviewishly; Loving God with All Your Heart.”
Those attending can bring a sack lunch to eat in fellowship hall, or visit one of the local restaurants.
The afternoon sessions: “The Biblical View of Education: Why Students Must Have a Christian World View: and “In But Not of: Clear Teaching on Christianity and Culture from Acts. 17.”
There is no registration fee, but there will be offering baskets at the door for those who wish to help with conference expenses.

Sandwiches added for last soup supper
COAL CITY — Coal City United Methodist Church, 6805 E. McArdle Road, Coal City, invites the community to its last “Hallelujah” Soup Supper of the season.
The supper will run from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 3, and features delicious homemade Chicken Noodle and Ham & Bean soups. This month they will also be serving ham and turkey sandwiches, along with their delicious soups.
The cost will be $8 for adults and children ages 13 & older; $4 for children ages 6 to 12; $2 for children ages 3 to 5; and free for children ages 2 and under.
Each meal includes your choice of soup, your choice of ham or turkey sandwiches, crackers, bread and cheese, a beverage, ice cream and dessert. A children’s menu and carry-outs are available.
All proceeds will go to the church’s building fund. Tickets will be sold at the door.
Soil, seed will be blessed March 4
WATSEKA - The Ford-Iroquois Deanery CCW will sponsor the annual Blessing of Soil and Seed Mass on March 4 at 2 p.m. The mass will be celebrated at St. Edmund’s Parish in Watseka.
Celebrant for the mass will be Bishop Joseph Imesch. Concelebrants will be Fr. Vern Arseneau, CCW Deanery Moderator, Fr. Michael Powell and other parish moderators.
Knights of Columbus Council of Watseka will also participate in the mass.
Those attending are asked to bring farm or garden seeds and soil to be blessed. Following the mass the CCW of St. Edmund’s will provide a dessert bar.
You are invited to attend this special event. This event gives you an opportunity to provide another faith living experience for your children.
The Blessing of Soil and Seed Mass is not just for farmers.
Congregate meal served each month
A nutritious meal will be provided by the Senior Service Center of Will County for residents 60 years or older.
The luncheon will be served at 11:30 on the second Wednesday of each month — with the next on March 14 — at Channahon United Methodist Church, 24751 W. Eames St. The minimum suggested donation is $3.

Channahon church hosts antique show
An Antique Show will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, March 9, and again from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 10, at the Channahon United Methodist Church, 24751 W. Eames (U.S. 6, Channahon.
A $2 donation for entry includes one free appraisal.
Corned Beef and other wonderful sandwiches will be available from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Friday and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Bingo to raise cash for scholarships
CHANNAHON — The St. Ann Council of Catholic Women will be hosting a B-I-N-G-O Fundraiser, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, March 11, at St. Ann Catholic Church, 24500 S. Navajo Dr., Channahon.
Lunch will be available for purchase from 11 a.m. until noon. Bingo will be from noon until 3:00 p.m.
Admission for Bingo is $10. This entitles you to a pad of 15 bingo games (9 cards per game), along with A 50/50, and free raffle tickets for cash door prizes. You must be 18 years of age or older to play Bingo.
Proceeds will be directed towards the Bishop Blanchette Scholarships, which are awarded each year to students planning to attend a Joliet Diocesan Catholic High School.
Senior companions needed for seniors
Catholic Charities Senior Companion Program is excited to share information regarding this program in order to better serve seniors residing in Will and Grundy counties.
It is looking for people 55 years and older who are interested in visiting with another senior who is homebound. Volunteers who meet the income guideline will receive a tax-free hourly stipend and a mileage reimbursement for time spent with clients.
The possibilities are endless: have a cup of coffee, take a walk in the yard, go out to lunch, shop, or transport to an appointment. This is strictly a friendly visit, no homecare duties are involved.
