Caller claimed knives and guns were involved

Published: Friday, March 23, 2012 9:37 a.m. CDT

Morris police received a tip regarding a large fight taking place at the Riverplace Marina on E. Cemetery Road near E. Washington Street in Morris at 7:20 p.m. Wednesday, March 21.

The anonymous caller reported knives and guns were involved.

Upon arrival, Morris police officers, assisted by Grundy County deputies, located several people and vehicles on the private property, but because of the terrain, it was difficult for officers to check all of the property.

Through their investigation, it was alleged a person posted on Facebook a fight was going to take place and people from different towns were going to participate.

It appeared the officers arrived prior to the start of the fight and dispersed the suspects.

No weapons were found and there were no reports of injury.
