Mather’s 2-run single in 9th lifts Cubs past Cardinals
CHICAGO (MCT) — The Chicago Cubs are off to one of their worst starts in team history, which is pretty amazing considering how many horrendous teams they’ve trotted out since 1876.
But if past is prologue, perhaps the early-season trauma is simply a harbinger of better days ahead, and that Joe Mather’s game-winning, two-out, two-run single that led the Cubs’ to 3-2 win over the Cardinals was just a start.
