Don't expect Cubs' Wood back on time

CHICAGO (MCT) — Cubs reliever Kerry Wood is eligible to come off the disabled list Sunday, but that doesn't seem likely.

Manager Dale Sveum said Wood threw off a mound Tuesday for the first time since receiving a cortisone shot one week earlier. He has been on the disabled list with "shoulder fatigue" since last Friday, but the DL stint was backdated.

"We'll just keep building that (shoulder) up," Sveum said. "We're not putting any timetable on his return or anything. We're just going to make sure he's ready to go when we activate him."
