National veterans ride to stop in Marseilles in May

NVAR's annual journey to Washington includes route through Illinois

MARSEILLES — A convoy of motorcyclists will travel through Illinois on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, during their annual pilgrimage from Sacramento, Calif., to Washington, D.C.

This year, the convoy will stop in Marseilles at 10 a.m. and conduct a wreath laying ceremony at the Middle East Conflicts Wall.

This group, composed of veterans as well as non-veteran supporters, undertakes a 10-day journey across the United States to bring awareness and recognition to all veterans.

The mission of the National Veterans Awareness Ride (NVAR) is to remember and honor all veterans, not only those who have served, but those who are presently serving. Of equal importance to the mission is to honor those men and women who are unaccounted for, either as Prisoners of War (POW) or Missing in Action (MIA), as well as those who have been Killed in Action (KIA).
