Short term and long, Bulls may be crippled by Rose injury

There's no reason to go nuts blaming Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau. What happened to Derrick Rose Saturday afternoon was both bad luck and an unfortunate part of sports.

Only in hindsight was it really that questionable for a team to have its best player on the floor with a shrinking lead and over a minute left to play in a playoff game. Yeah, you'd like for a coach to get an oft-injured superstar off the floor when a lead is comfortable.

I was watching. That lead, which had shriveled from its high of 20 points, was not terribly comfortable at that moment. Even with Rose's recent injury history, it was impossible to know that he'd jump-stop his way to a torn ACL if he stayed in the game.
