Coal City Library marks 25th anniversary
COAL CITY — Usually, anniversaries involve receiving gifts. On Tuesday, the Coal City Library District bucked convention by giving them to patrons for the library district's series of 25th anniversary festivities.
Early in the day, Karla Welch, head of the library's adult services, could be found at a table at the library's entrance, helping visitors fill out raffle tickets and handing out popcorn, chocolate and cookies.
"The celebration is just a way to give back to the community," she said.
