Yorkville spoils Morris senior night
Morris senior captain Cathy Click got her first penalty kick goal of the season. Morris senior captain Dani Cummings got an assist on a late header goal by senior captain Jordan Cummings.
On a night designated as Senior Night for the Redskins girls soccer team, that would seem to have suited the bill just fine on Tuesday at home against Yorkville. However, the Foxes had other ideas in the Northern Illinois Big 12 contest as visiting Yorkville came to town and claimed a 3-2 win over the locals.
Yorkville scored the first, third and fourth goals of the game in the contest, each of which could have, or should have, been stopped. The first came on a goal from Brittany Straznickas who was one-on-one with Morris keeper Stephenie Wiekert from about 35 yards out. That one resulted in a multi-hopper that skipped past Wiekert on the very-wet field in the 17th minute.
