Phil Delta Kappa chapter honors Seneca High School student

SUGAR GROVE — Perry Harlow of Seneca High School was one of 12 students recently selected as winners in the Local Chapter Award Program of the Phil Delta Kappa International Scholarship Program for Prospective Educators.

Phi Delta Kappa International’s scholarship program has become one of the largest educational award programs intended for future educators in the U.S. Over 150,000 high school applications are received annually. This year, the Northern Illinois Area Chapter scholarship committee evaluated over 70 applications, including Harlow, on their academic accomplishments, contributions and service to their school and community  and letter of recommendation.

Selected students and their parents were honored guests of the chapter at the April 17 meeting held at Fireside Grille in Sugar Grove. Each recipient was presented with a scholarship check to be used at the college or university of their choice.

Other selections, with their high school,  were Rebecca Anderson (Woodstock North), Alex Bristol (Jefferson), Alexandra Burnside (Burlington Central), Johanna Doreson (Woodstock North), Rosalinda Garcia (Lockport), Kevin Hunt (Mendota), Kristen Ludlam (Naperville Central), Margaret Quinn (Wheaton North), Veronica Resek (Batavia), Caroline Tirakian (Hinsdale Central) and Madeline Volger (Oswego).
