Free children’s clothing will be available from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 19, at White Oak School in Morris.
All free clothing, sizes 4 through 16, has been donated by the community and is for all school-aged children in Grundy County.
Those participating are encouraged to bring their own bag to fill, but bags will be provided.
This event is sponsored by the New Community Christian Church.
Cross Lutheran hosting a 5K
YORKVILLE — Cross Lutheran School of Yorkville, with the support of Accelerated Rehabilitation, is hosting a 5K LutherRun/Walk.
The run/walk will take place at the school, 8609 Illinois 47, Yorkville, at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 19.
There will be breakfast from Panera Bread, fruit provided by Valley West Hospital, and awards for several age groups.

Rev. Stamman will minister May 20

Bible study focuses on Book of Revelation
Anita Besch and David Fiday will host a 10-week study of The Book of Revelation as detailed in the Navarre Commentary.
This study debunks current notions in society and press and correctly informs Catholics about the truth of one of the most misunderstood books of the Bible. You can’t fully understand the New Testament if you are not familiar with Old Testament images. We’ll help you with that.
All are welcome from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday evenings June 6, 13, 20, 27, July 11, 18, 25, and Aug. 1, 8 and 22, in the St. Mary Immaculate Parish Stewardship Room.
The cost is $18 for the book “The Navarre Bible: Revelation Texts and Commentaries,” or you may purchase one yourself.
Other optional books and materials will be recommended in class.

Walk offers prayer for elected leaders
JOLIET — Igniting the Fire Prayer & Worship Center is sponsoring “Guarding the Gates of the City” prayer walk to pray for governmental leaders on Saturday, May 26, 2012.
The prayer walk will line up at 10:45 a.m. at the Will County Visitation Facility, 20 S. Chicago St., Joliet, at the far eastside parking lot. Kick-off will be at 11:45 a.m., with a scheduled noon arrival at the Will County Courthouse.
You are invited to join Igniting the Fire Prayer & Worship Center as they pray. A clarion call is going out to believers throughout the city of Joliet and surrounding cities to join the community in a prayer walk as participants bombard heaven for unity, transformation, restoration and a spiritual awakening.
The walkers will start out going north on South Chicago, turn left onto Washington St., right onto North Joliet St., take the first right onto Jefferson St. to the Will County Courthouse at 14 W. Jefferson St.
Church plans Memorial Day service
NEWARK — At 9 a.m. Sunday, May 27, a service will be held at the West Lisbon Cemetery to honor all veterans. Please bring a lawn chair, if needed.
At 9:30 a.m., the community is invited to a breakfast at the West Lisbon Church Fellowship Hall.
At 10:30 a.m., the church’s regular worship service will be held in the sanctuary. All are welcome and invited to attend.

Blood drive slated June 2 in Minooka
MINOOKA — Recently Colleen McEvilly-Kapsch of Minooka required 65 units of blood. Blood products need to be available to fill a need like Colleen’s.
The Knights of Columbus is sponsoring a Blood Drive from 7:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 2, at Minooka Junior High School, in order to help fulfill that need.

Church sale part of all-town event
WILMINGTON — The First United Methodist Church of Wilmington will hold a garage sale, bake sale, and luncheon beginning at 8 a.m. Friday, June 1, and Saturday, June 2.
The event will take place during Wilmington’s 4th annual all-town garage sales.
The church, at 401 E. Kahler Road, is a great starting point where you may pick up a map and listings for all other area garage sales. Proceeds from the church sale will be used for this summer’s youth work trip with Red Bird Mission.
Wilmington residents can still register their sale through the church to be included on the all-town listing for an $8 donation.
Mazon UMC hosts 5K run on June 2
MAZON — The Mazon United Methodist Church is having its second annual 5K Run/Walk on June 2.

Catholic Charities Senior Companion Program is looking for people 55 years and older who are interested in visiting with another senior who is homebound.
Volunteers who meet the income guideline will receive a tax-free hourly stipend and a mileage reimbursement for time spent with clients.

Healing Service planned June 3
PLAINFIELD — At 1:30 p.m. Sunday, June 3, immediately following the 12:15 p.m. Mass, St. Mary Immaculate Church will host a Healing Prayer Service.
After a short scripture reading and prayer, each individual will be offered the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick.
A Healing Service will be held on the first Sunday of every month at 1:30 p.m.

5K Run/Walk will support CYCM
The Christian Youth Center of Morris will hold its inaugural 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, June 16.
The race will begin at 9 a.m. on Union Street, near the MCHS parking lot. Race day registration and T-shirt/goodie bag pick-up will begin at 7:30 a.m. under the Lions Club pavilion in Goold Park West.
Pre-registration is $25.
