Local leaders gather information at Chapin’s

The Grundy Livingston Kankakee Workforce Board hosted an “Employer Roundable” on May 23 at Chapin’s Restaurant in Morris. Many local employees that attended expressed the need to maintain discussions regularly.

On Wednesday, May 23, the Grundy Livingston Kankakee Workforce Board hosted an “Employer Roundtable” at Chapin’s Restaurant in Morris.

The roundtable consisted of business leaders, human resource professionals, educators and economic development representatives.

With the focus on gathering information from local employers, discussion points included current and future workforce needs, skills/credentials needed for entry level positions, skill gaps, turnover issues, and workforce training needs. The event was enthusiastically attended and many Grundy employers expressed the need to maintain discussions on a regular basis.

The Grundy Livingston Kankakee Workforce Board is responsible for investing yearly more than $1.5 million in support of local workforce and training services to enable individuals and employers to succeed in today’s economy. It is one of 26 local boards across the State of Illinois. The Workforce Board will be providing a follow up report on the information gathered at this event.
