South Wilmington man threatens neighbor with firearm after beer dispute

Grundy County deputies arrested a South Wilmington man after he allegedly threatened a neighbor and damaged his property.

At about 9 p.m. Thursday, deputies responded to the 600 block of Elm Street in South Wilmington to a report of an intoxicated man with a firearm threatening his neighbor.

Deputies met with the man who reported the incident, who described his neighbor, James C. Flett, 26, as the person making the threats. He told deputies he was grilling in his backyard with a child when Flett allegedly approached him and asked if he wanted a beer. The man declined Flett's offer, and Flett became angry and confrontational, threatening him with clenched fists.
