Minooka fourth finishes famous quartet

JOLIET — What do rock star Chris Daughtry, former Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn, and basketball legend Kobe Bryant have in common with the Minooka Indians' baseball team? They all finished fourth in their respective fields at one point. Daughtry was fourth in season 6 of American Idol, Quinn finished fourth in the 2005 Heisman trophy voting,  Bryant managed to be fourth in MVP voting this past NBA season, and the Indians finished fourth in state this past weekend in Joliet.

Although Minooka lost both of its state series games this past weekend at Silver Cross Field, they can leave with their heads up high as they bring back to Minooka a fourth place state trophy, their second best place in school history.

"Once you get here, it's disappointing finishing fourth," Minooka head coach Jeff Petrovic said. "But this team has a lot to be proud of. They made a school district and a community all very proud."

What is your stance on a proposed 1 percent sales tax to fund local school building projects?

I'm in favor of anything that will help improve school finances
I will support it if it helps to lower my property taxes
I oppose it because I don't believe it will impact property taxes and I will just pay twice
I'm against any additional taxes
I have not heard enough yet to form an opinion
