WASHINGTON (MCT) — President Barack Obama and the first family will travel to Chicago on Friday night for a weekend visit, one that coincides with Saturday’s wedding of Laura Jarrett, daughter of top White House adviser Valerie Jarrett.
A White House official on Tuesday confirmed the weekend trip and said there were no public events on the president’s Chicago schedule. The official would not say whether the Obamas will attend the wedding.
Laura Jarrett on Saturday is to marry Tony Balkissoon. Both are graduates of Harvard Law School, Class of 2010.
She is an associate at Mayer Brown law firm. He is an associate at Sidley Austin law firm, where the first lady formerly worked. She’s in the litigation and dispute resolution practice and he’s in the intellectual property litigation group, according to bios on the law firm’s web sites.
