Robert W. Lindstrand Sr.
Mr. Robert “Bob” “Viking” Wayne Lindstrand Sr., 66, of Morris, Ill., and formerly of Plainfield, Ill., passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, June 12, 2012, at his home.
Visitation and Video Tribute will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday June 14, at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block north of Illinois 113), Coal City.
Funeral Services will follow at 10 a.m. Friday morning, June 15, in Saint John the Evangelist Episcopal Church, 312 East 11th St., Lockport. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Morris.
Born July 24, 1945, in Chicago, Bob was a son of the late Clarence and Hilda M. Gierahn-Lindstrand. He was raised and educated on the Northside of Chicago and graduated from Schurz High School with the Class of 1963.
Bob continued his education at the University of Saint Francis, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in business. Bob started his career with the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier and later became a USPS Policeman, retiring after 34 years. After retirement, he substitute taught in the Plainfield School District and moved to Morris in 2003.
Bob was an active member of Saint John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in Lockport, Ill., and in past years belonged to the Romeoville (Ill.) Jaycees. He was a fan of all the Chicago sports teams, loved nature and will be remembered for the countless white pines and lilies of all varieties that he planted.
Bob also enjoyed camping, motorcycles, politics and serving as an election judge. He cherished the many riding trips with his son Rob and held memorable his special friends on Shady Lane.
Survivors include his loving wife, the former Janet Bradley; three children, Rob (Debbie) Lindstrand of Joliet, Ill., Alan (Jackie) Knudsen of Plainfield, and Julia Bonfiglio of Brodhead, Wis.; five grandchildren, Ashley Lindstrand, Ryan Knudsen, Kirsten Knudsen, Tony (Kelsey) Bonfiglio and Gabrielle Bonfiglio; one great-grandson, Nicholas Bonfiglio; two sisters, Audrey Wooley of Rockford, Ill., and Faith Leyva of Seabrook, Texas; one brother, Ron (Nancy) Lindstrand of Rockford, and four brothers- and sisters-in-law, Barbara Douglas of Moline, James Bradley of Iowa City, Cynthia (Jack) Beers of Oakland, Calif., and Robert Bradley of Moline; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
