Blackhawks to waive Salak
(MCT) — The Blackhawks appear ready to part with one of their top goaltending prospects.
According to a CBC report, the Hawks placed Alexander Salak, 25, on waivers Friday. They acquired Salak along with Michael Frolik in a February 2011 trade with the Panthers for Jack Skille and two minor leaguers, but Salak lost a training camp battle to Ray Emery to serve as Corey Crawford's backup in 2011-12.
Salak had a rough season with Rockford of the AHL, going 6-10-0 in 21 games with a .903 save percentage and 2.69 goals-against average. The Czech native suffered a left leg injury Dec. 2 and during his absence lost the starting job to Carter Hutton.
