Going the extra mile

It’s already been a long summer for the Morris Lady Redskins basketball team after recently returning from a 15-game, four-day tournament in Missouri. On Tuesday at the Morris Shootout the Redskins were tasked with a vicious schedule on one of the hottest days of the summer.

After three teams dropped out of the tournament within the last week, Morris volunteered to fill their slot to balance out the pool play schedule and was forced to play six consecutive games. Despite the difficult conditions, head coach Luke Windy had some very specific goals in mind for the day.

“We just wanted to compete today, and some games we didn’t. Everyone is playing the heat and I know we played six games – we knew we were gonna start making a lot more mistakes later in the day – but we really wanted to come out and compete hard today,” Windy said.
