Mrs. Irene L. Wren, 95, of rural Morris, passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, June 15, 2012 at the Morris Hospital with her loving family by her side. She would have celebrated her 96th birthday on June 20, 2012.
Born June 20, 1916 in Kankakee, Ill., Irene was the daughter of George and Ruby (Burr) Hooper. She received her education in the schools of Gardner and graduated as the salutatorian of her class from Gardner High School with the class of 1934.
Irene married the love of her life, Wilson Wren, on Nov. 28, 1934, in Morris. They were happily married for more than 68 years.
She treasured the many times that were spent with her family during Sunday breakfasts and dinners, playing cards, watching the birds flying in and out of their feeders and the corn crops growing in the fields.
Survivors include her loving five children, Gene (Jenny) Wren of Morris; Leona Anderson of Elburn, Ill..; Dale (Tammy) Wren of Yuma, Ariz.; Elaine (Paul) Renick of Clermont, Fla., and Charlette Plinneke of Lafayette, Calif.; 12 grandchldren, Wanda Wren, Eugene (Beth) Wren Jr.; David (Danette) Wren, Daniel (Stacey) Wren, Patrick Wren, Steele (Julie) Faust, Misti Soper, Dr. Dale (Amy) Wren, Dee Ann (Hollis) South, Megan Wren, Nicholas and Natalie Plinneke; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband on June 1, 2003; one daughter, Marlene Faust, on Aug. 5, 1977; two sisters; four brothers; and one son-in-law, Dennis Anderson, on Sept. 8, 2010.
Per Mrs. Wren’s directions, there will not be any visitation or funeral service.
Preferred form of remembrance would be memorial gifts in her memory directed to the Grace Lutheran Church, 10025 N. Illinois 47, Morris, Ill., 60450.
