Words grow heated during church permit debate

First Baptist Church fails to meet deadline, asks for more time

CHANNAHON — The Channahon Village Board spent a while Monday evening deliberating on another request from First Baptist Church officials for an exception to village policy.

Over the past few years of building its new church and school just off U.S. 6 in northeastern Channahon, church members and its pastor, Randy Blan, have made several unusual requests of trustees.

They are doing the work themselves, Blan has told the board in the past, using members and volunteers as much as they can, and they are trying to be as cost effective as possible.
