Minooka girls survive day two at Morris Ladies Shootout

The Minooka Indians girls’ basketball team had a solid outing the past two days at the Morris Shootout, although its final record doesn’t show it. Although they  went 4-3 overall at the tournament, the Indians had gone 3-0 on day one and their lone win Wednesday came against defending Southwest Prairie Conference champion Romeoville, a team the Indians lost twice to last season.

This was some of the first action this current Minooka team has seen, as summer tournaments are starting all across the state. For the Indians, it was a chance to display their new style of a “run and gun” offense with air-tight defense to back it up. Speed seems to be an advantage for this Minooka squad, which helps with their new offensive attack.

“We like to be able to push the ball when we can,” senior guard Sydney Lilly said. “If we need to slow it down, though, we can.”
