As temperatures climb, local safety experts are encouraging citizens to seek out cooler places and adhere to safety basics to beat the heat.
Coal City Fire Protection District firefighter/paramedic Nick Doerfler said on hot days, residents should seek shelter first, and take extra precautions if they are out in the sun.
