Man throws beer can at woman, batters two others
A Gardner man was arrested early Friday morning after deputies said he threw a beer can at a woman and battered two people at a residence.
According to the Grundy County Sheriff's Department report, deputies responded to 402 N. Mitchell St. in Braceville at about 12:30 a.m. to a reported domestic problem.
At the scene, a woman who had a laceration and blood on her face told deputies that several family members were at the residence that evening, hanging out and drinking, when James H. Waldron, 31, came inside and asked the woman for a ride to Gardner. She said no, because the group had been drinking.
Waldron, who was allegedly extremely intoxicated, became belligerent and violent toward the woman and other people in the house. He allegedly threw a beer can at the woman's face, causing injury.
A second woman backed the first on the story, and added that after Waldron threw the can, he allegedly hit his head against a glass section of the kitchen door, breaking it. She repeatedly told him to calm down and stop. She attempted to calm him down and he allegedly punched her in the side of her face.
At that time, a man who had been outside came into the room to see what was happening and reported seeing the woman bleeding and glass everywhere. He said Waldron started yelling at him and wrestled him on the ground before choking him to the point of passing out.
Waldron told deputies he was being attacked and was defending himself, the report said. He was arrested for two counts of battery and one count of domestic battery.
He was held without bond at the Grundy County jail.
