Cab strike planned on Monday mornings

(MCT) — Though cab strikes have fizzled in Chicago in the past, some cabbies say they plan to strike on Monday mornings during rush hour until the city grants a fare increase.

Strikes haven't worked in part because the drivers are independent contractors who aren't represented by a single union. That makes it difficult to persuade a sizable percentage of the roughly 12,000 cabdrivers in Chicago to take part in a work stoppage.
