Ex-Notre Dame aide Brown pleads guilty

(MCT) — Former Notre Dame assistant and Julian High School star Corwin Brown entered guilty but mentally ill pleas Thursday to two felony charges stemming from an Aug. 12, 2011 standoff with police at his home in Granger, Ind.

Brown, 41, plead guilty to felony confinement and felony domestic battery while prosecutors agreed to drop one felony confinement count upon sentencing. According to the deal, prosecutors recommended Brown be sentenced to two years on each count to run consecutively.

Brown requested a suspended sentence with no objection from prosecutors, but the final decision on that rests with the judge. His sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 21 at 10 a.m. ET.
