Dist. 201 saves big money on intercom system

Leftover cash may be used to replace MJHS gym floor

MINOOKA — Minooka Grade School District’s new technology network manager, Aaron Souza, has found a way to save the school district a nice amount of money on out-of-date intercom systems.

Souza, along with former network manager Jason Willis and Ron Sarver, put their heads together and worked out a way to make the old systems compatible with the district’s new Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phone system, Dist. 201 Superintendent Al Gegenheimer said.

Three of the district’s schools have the out-of-date equipment, some as many as 20 years old. By updating the equipment, teachers at those schools will have immediate access to making emergency announcements from the classroom to anywhere in the school. The other schools in the district already have that capability.
