Breakfast truly is the most important meal of the day. Many people skip breakfast because they don’t have time, don’t like to eat soon after waking, or think that it will help them in their weight loss efforts.
Research supports the idea that we function better when we eat breakfast. Eating in the morning can also jumpstart your metabolism for the day and start burning calories early on.
What I tend to see when working with patients is that those who skip breakfast on a regular basis tend to overeat at other times of the day as a result. And for those people with diabetes, skipping breakfast can often lead to greater fluctuations in blood sugars throughout the day.
