Morris native studied political science at prestigious school

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Gustavo Setrini earned a Ph.D. degree in Political Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology during the Institute’s 146th commencement exercises, which took place on June 8 in Cambridge. Regarded as one of the best research universities in the world, MIT grants the Ph.D. as its highest degree in recognition of scientific attainments and the ability to carry out original research.

Setrini’s research examines the politics of sustainable agriculture and globalization in Latin America. His projects have investigated the relevance of local institutions such as cooperatives, local government, rural extension services, and non-governmental organizations in the process of agricultural globalization.
