Police: Animals prohibited in downtown district during special events

The Morris Police Department reminded citizens in a release issued Wednesday that animals are prohibited in the Morris downtown business district during special events.

According to the release, under city ordinance, animals including dogs, cats, birds, rodents, reptiles, horses, mules and goats are not allowed during events like the Grundy County Corn Festival, Cruise Nights or Nostalgia Days.

Exceptions to the ordinance include dogs that are a part of a police canine unit or mounted law enforcement units that use horses, service animals and animals that are part of an entertainment act or are approved participants in a public parade.
