Car with 2 bodies found buried in coal at scene of railroad-bridge collapse near Chicago

CHICAGO (MCT) — Seventeen hours after salvage crews started to dig through thousands of tons of spilled coal, derailed freight hoppers and twisted ruins from a collapsed railroad bridge in the northern Chicago suburbs, authorities on Thursday found a car buried in the wreckage with two bodies inside.

Officials at first said no one was injured when the 138-car Union Pacific Railroad coal train bound for Wisconsin derailed on a viaduct on the border of Glenview and Northbrook, Ill. border. Thursday morning, crews spotted the bumper of a car and dug around it with shovels.
