Constructing a contender

It may sound cliche, but Logan Love's rise up the ranks of the Street Stock Division at the Grundy County Speedway is really something of a Cinderella story.

Love started out with little more than a passion for the sport of auto racing. Finding the right car, the will to compete, and then the right crew transformed the Plano native into a bona fide contender virtually every time he now climbs into his 1988 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS.

It culminated last year for his team in the steady No. 88 when he won the championship in the Street Stock Division out at the local oval. He's back this year, and at press time (prior to Friday's action) he currently sits in third place with 713 points behind both Nathan Kelly (866 points) and Randy Weese (733).
