Cubs prospect Ha homers in Futures Game
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (MCT) — Everything was not as it seemed for Jae-Hoon Ha at Sunday’s Futures Game. But the Cubs’ Double-A outfielder wasn’t complaining, especially not about his two-run home run off Gerrit Cole, a highly regarded right-hander from the Pirates.
“That was really exciting,’’ Ha said. “I thought it might be an extra-base hit, a double or something, hit the wall … (When it went over the fence) I was really excited.’’
The right-handed-hitting Ha, who has only three homers in 317 at-bats for Double-A Tennessee, hit a high, 95-mph fastball from Cole to right-center field. Wil Myers retreated and retreated, then watched as the ball just cleared the wall.
