Verona man accused of assaulting meter reader

A Verona man was arrested Monday after he allegedly assaulted a ComEd meter reader.

On July 5, according to Grundy County Sheriff's Department records, a deputy was dispatched to Grand Ridge Road and La Salle Road in Vienna Township and spoke with a woman who works as a meter reader for ComEd. The woman told the deputy that the incident took place in the 3000 block of South Kinsman Road in Verona.

She said she was taking readings in the area when she pulled into the driveway of Greg W. Granby, 48, of Verona. When she said she drove off the gravel drive by mistake, Granby allegedly approached her after she exited her vehicle and called her a name.
