(MCT) — Former Chicago Bears defensive back Shaun Gayle has filed a lawsuit against the National Football League, joining hundreds of former players who say repeated head injuries they suffered on the field have produced debilitating health effects.

Gayle alleged that multiple head traumas he got during his 12-year career in the NFL have caused him to experience symptoms in line with the neurodegenerative disease chronic traumatic encephalopathy, according to the lawsuit filed Tuesday in Cook County Circuit Court.
