Bomb threat that closed tunnel linking US, Canada was false alarm

DETROIT (MCT) — Traffic was back to normal at the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel on Thursday evening after a bomb threat hoax caused backups and headaches for border commuters and hours of fruitless searches by authorities and bomb-sniffing dogs.

While agents scoured the tunnel for signs of explosives with packs of specially trained K-9s, commuters waiting to cross the border in the U.S. and Canada were forced to make detours to the Ambassador Bridge.
