D.C. police investigate allegations that officer threatened first lady

WASHINGTON (MCT) — The District of Columbia Police Department is investigating allegations that an officer who works as a motorcycle escort for the White House made threatening comments directed toward first lady Michelle Obama.

The officer, who has worked for the department for 17 years, was put on paid administrative leave and his police powers were revoked, said D. C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier at a news conference. Lanier said the department is still in the process of taking statements to determine the exact nature of the comments.
