Pool work continues; opening still not set

State delays, heat blamed for construction uncertainty

Work on the Morris Municipal Pool is still under way, so an official opening date cannot be set yet.

It was hoped the revamped pool would be open to the public by now, but with initial delays in the state getting the city its permit and then the weather being so hot, it just wasn't possible, Mayor Richard Kopczick said after the Morris City Council meeting Monday.

The delay at the state level was due to the state being unable to keep up as numerous municipalities applied for permits after a statewide issue with pool drains. Now, with the weather being so hot, the trades are starting as early as possible and leaving by early afternoon to avoid the heat, Kopczick said.
