Margaret N. Balegno

COAL CITY, Ill. — Mrs. Margaret N. Balegno, 94, of Coal City, Ill., passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at Heritage Health in Dwight.

Born May 2, 1918, in Gardner, Ill., Margaret was a daughter of the late Steffen and Anne Katherine Dall-Mollerskov. She was raised and educated in Gardner, and worked as a seamstress for both Granert's and Grinchuck's clothing companies.

Margaret enjoyed canning, ceramics, crocheting and playing bingo. She will also be remembered as a beloved babysitter, who greatly cared for her grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Karen (Mel "Tony") Vota and Louis (Sherri) Balegno Jr., both of Coal City; four grandchildren, Steffen Balegno of Coal City, Jonathan (Leanne) Vota of Plainfield, Ill., and Andrew Vota and Katherine Balegno, both of Coal City; three great grandchildren, Sophia Margaret Vota, Parker Jason Vota and Olivia Lillian Vota; her sister-in-law, Betty (the late John) Mollerskov of Racine, Wis.; three nieces, Clarissa Siron of Marseilles, Ill., and Debbie Krause and Linda (Wayne) Holmquist, both of Racine; and three nephews, John Pissinis of Joliet, Ill., and Alan (Mary) Mollerskov and Roy Sorensen, both of Racine; as well as her special friend and caregiver Debbie Friddle of Wilmington.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Louis Balegno Sr. (2001); a daughter, Rita Balegno (2006); and four brothers and sisters, Bendix Mollerskov, John Mollerskov, Edna Sorensen and Lillian Hansen.

Visitation and video tribute will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 23, at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block north of Illinois 113), Coal City. Funeral services will follow at 10 a.m. Tuesday morning, July 24,in the funeral home.
 
Burial will be in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery and pallbearers will be Steffen Balegno, Jonathan Vota, Andrew Vota, Katherine Balegno, Tom Taylor and Brian Evans.
