Morris police taking precautions at local movie theater

Colorado shooting prompts 'heightened level of vigilance'

The Morris Police Department is taking precautions at the local movie theater in the wake of a tragic shooting at a Colorado theater early Friday morning.

James Holmes, a 24-year-old masked gunman, entered a movie theater in Aurora, Colo., which was playing the new Batman movie "The Dark Knight Rises," and opened fire early Friday, killing at least 12 people and wounding 50.

"Like all police departments around the country, we will have a heightened level of vigilance and presence in the area of the theater in the the form of extra patrols on both day and night shifts," Morris' Deputy Chief Harvey VanCleave said.
