'Black Madam' charged with murder in lethal butt injection
PHILADELPHIA (MCT) — The Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office announced murder charges Tuesday against the so-called “Black Madam” who is accused of administering illegal silicone buttock-enhancing injections that led to the death of a 20-year-old tourist from London last year.
Padge Victoria Windslowe, 42, was contacted by homicide detectives Monday night, sources said.
The district attorney’s office charged Windslowe with third-degree murder for allegedly giving Claudia Seye Aderotimi a series of shots that ultimately killed her.
Windslowe had been under a cloud of suspicion since Aderotimi’s death last year. Aderotimi traveled to Philadelphia with friends, police said, and met Windslowe in a hotel near the airport to receive the black-market injections.
District Attorney Seth Williams said that after Aderotimi got the injections, she started to experience chest pains. Windslowe, Williams said, told her to drink more water and to call an ambulance if needed.
“Instead of making sure that Ms. Aderotimi was okay, the defendant used that time as her opportunity to escape,” Williams said.
Windslowe, who also has recorded gothic hip-hop tracks and videos under the stage name the “Black Madam,” was arrested in February after police said they learned she was continuing to perform the buttock-enhancing procedures. She was charged with giving a series of shots to a 23-year-old exotic dancer at a “pumping party” in East Germantown.
The dancer testified in court this year that she paid Windslowe $1,000 for the procedure, but later went to the hospital with chest pains and other symptoms of heart failure. She was diagnosed with silicone embolism syndrome, stemming from the fragments of silicone that worked their way into her bloodstream. Her condition has since improved, the woman said, but she was on oxygen for months.
Windslowe, who was also charged Tuesday with conspiracy and related counts, already was being held on $750,000 bail on charges of aggravated assault and deceptive practices.
