GARDNER, Ill. — Mrs. Helen Ruth (Burkhardt) Christensen, 84, of Gardner, Ill., passed away Thursday, July 26, 2012, at Heritage Health in Dwight, Ill.

Born Feb. 22, 1928, in Coal City, Ill., to the late Orville and Jennie (Goldie) Burkhardt, Helen was previously employed at Fox Center in Dwight and the South Wilmington schools as a cook. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in South Wilmington, Royal Neighbors, and Senior Citizens of Grundy County.

Helen was very well known for her wonderful baking and she also had a wonderful gift of making everyone feel as if they were special.
