Illinois farmers' hopes drying up
(MCT) — The dirt looks more like dust between the rows of corn on Bob Bleuer's farm in Channahon, where stalks are about half as tall as they should be this time of year.
"This is just what you don't want," said Bleuer, searching in vain for a plant that may have miraculously produced an ear of corn despite the wilting heat and lack of rain.
