Larry Schuler back in victory lane

Right place at the right time. Christmas came early. Whatever cliche you want to use, Larry Schuler inherited the lead with 5 laps to go after a tangle between leader DJ Weltmeyer and 2nd running Pat Kelly and used that to his advantage to pick up his first feature win of the season. It was a popular win for the veteran driver who has been competing at the Grundy County Speedway since it opened in the early 70's. Schuler, the winningest driver in 1976 proved he can still get the job done 36 years later.

Billy Knippenberg slipped past Jeremy Spoonmore with three laps remaining in the Acorn Cabinetry 40 at Grundy County Speedway on Friday Night. It was Knippenberg's first time in a Mid Am car this year and the third consecutive win by a Grundy regular over the traveling MASCS competitors.

Spoonmore was awarded an extra $400 from Acorn Cabinetry for being the top finishing MASCS member. After a disqualification to second-place finisher Ron Vandermeier for a motor infraction, Ryan Farrell was credited with third, fellow rookie Frank Slabenek was fourth and Brad Keith rounded out the top five.
