Hayden back home with Bears
BOURBONNAIS — Success has followed Bears veteran defensive back Kelvin Hayden wherever he has gone. From Chicago Hubbard High School to Joliet Junior College to the University of Illinois and into professional football, Hayden has almost always played for a winner.
"In high school, we won two city championships. My senior year we were one game from the state championships. So, we were pretty good," Heyden said at Bears camp. "I didn't lose 10 games in high school. When I went to JJC, we only lost one game and we won 23 games straight. The winning thing has kind of rubbed off on me. There hasn't been a year in which I haven't made the playoffs in the NFL and I want to keep that going. Hopefully the winning spirit and grind reflects here in Chicago."
Hayden played corner, quarterback and eventually tailback in high school before moving to wide receiver at JJC.
