With Danks out for season, it’s Liriano to rescue for White Sox cause

MINNEAPOLIS (MCT) — Hours after the White Sox announced John Danks will undergo season-ending surgery on his left shoulder, newly acquired Francisco Liriano provided comfort with eight strikeouts over six innings in his Sox debut.

And catcher A.J. Pieryznski, who helped ease Liriano on the mound, provided the most calming effect with a two-run homer off Jeff Gray in the ninth inning to boost the Sox to an eventual 4-3 victory.
