With expressway bearing down, hundreds fear hitting the road
(MCT) – Hundreds turned out Tuesday for a public hearing in Peotone on three possible routes for the proposed Illiana Expressway, a long-anticipated highway that would connect interstates in Illinois and Indiana.
Although there's no state or federal money to build the highway, Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn and his Indiana counterpart, Mitch Daniels, strongly support the project, which planners estimate could cost as much as $1.6 billion.
