Battered WWII veteran gets new dentures
CHICAGO (MCT) — Two days after a band of young robbers left Porter B. Cross battered on a sidewalk, the World War II veteran walked into Zizic Dental to be fitted for a free set of new dentures. Cross’ old ones broke Monday when three attackers punched and kicked him on his weekly stroll to a neighborhood store.
But before the exam started, the Zizic Dental staff presented Cross with two cupcakes and serenaded him with the “Happy Birthday” song. The retired postal worker turns 88 Thursday.
