Bear-ly Working

BOURBONNAIS — Gardner native Kyle Mack is a sophomore at Illinois State University but this summer he's been drawn to the college campus of Olivet Nazarene University. That's because the former Gardner-South Wilmington standout basketball player recently got a job in Bourbonnais working as an athletic field monitor at Chicago Bears camp.

"One of my high school teachers is actually from Bourbonnais and she got me involved with the whole process of getting a job here," Mack said. "It was actually pretty easy to get a job here."

Mack said that his day got started after waking up at 10:30 a.m. and hitting the floor running. He said that he arrived at Bears camp at 12:45 for the 2 p.m. practice that day.

What is your stance on a proposed 1 percent sales tax to fund local school building projects?

I'm in favor of anything that will help improve school finances
I will support it if it helps to lower my property taxes
I oppose it because I don't believe it will impact property taxes and I will just pay twice
I'm against any additional taxes
I have not heard enough yet to form an opinion
